and we believe this example dates from the Muromachi period (室町時代 Muromachi jidai) of 1336 to 1573

The body does look like it was repainted at arsenal once

the upper and lower fittings look to be plated steel (tested with a magnet)

This is a fantastic example of a Remington New Model Army Percussion Revolver, named on the right grip scale to Lt. G. E. BUSS, complete with its original leather flap holster. The revolver has a lovely patina from age and use, but still retains a good deal of the original blued finish.
